Q. I scheduled a nonimmigrant visa interview appointment for what I thought would be a convenient day next month, but I have just found out that I must schedule a medical exam on the same day. I don’t want to miss my appointment, but the doctor’s office has no flexibility. What can I do about my visa interview appointment? Is there someone I can call or email?

A: Please don’t get stressed about your appointment date. We know that sometimes plans change, and rescheduling can be done at the same website where you obtained your visa information, paid the application fee, submitted your online application, and originally scheduled your appointment:

Using the website of our authorised service provider, CSC, is the fastest way to resolve issues with your appointment date or to track the status of your application. CSC is the sole authorised contractor and they provide the following nonimmigrant visa services for our clients in Jamaica:

• Visa information via their website and call centrel

• Visa fee collection;

• Scheduling of visa applications and reviews; and

• Visa documents courier services (inbound and outbound).

The CSC website listed above is where you would go if you need to schedule an emergency appointment.

Please remember that it is not necessary to contact the Embassy directly with questions regarding your visa application. For most people, their questions regarding fee payments, application filings, expedited appointment requests, interview procedures, and passport tracking are answered on the CSC website or through their call centre. We encourage you to take advantage of their services. And if your matter requires our attention, rest assured they will forward the inquiry to us.

We have been seeing people lining up for their visa appointments in the mornings. There’s no reason for anyone to do that. Your appointment time is when you should arrive and, if you show up, then you’ll generally be out within an hour. But if you arrive early, you’ll just have to wait.

In order to respect privacy, staff will not answer questions about specific visa applications. The embassy employs a visa appointment system, so it is only necessary for visa applicants to arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment.
