Piercings ground Lanmine
FROM horn implants to eyeball tatoos, some dancehall artistes go the extra mile to stand out. One such extreme backfired on up-and-coming artiste Lanmine last week.
On Thursday, the entertainer missed his flight to Antigua where he was scheduled to do a show. This was because his multiple-pierced face triggered metal detectors at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.
Officials told him he had to remove over 50 metal pieces from his face to gain access to the departure area.
“For me to stand up and pull out 56 piercings would be a joke ting so wi jus’ call it a loss,” the sing-jay said.
Lanmine, who is best known for songs like
Touch You Hard andPretty Body Gyal, said he will take the necessary steps to prevent a recurrence of the incident.
Following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States, airports upgraded their security systems to detect potentially destructive devices.
Passengers are required to remove belts, shoes and other metallic items before going through detector systems.
