Jamaica’s Hyatt, Watson progress in ITTF Latin American Championships
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s Michael Hyatt and Kane Watson are on the verge of securing spots among the last 32 in Men’s Singles action at the ITTF Latin American Championships in Puerto Rico.
Watson and Hyatt, who both secured victories in their fixtures on Tuesday, are joined by Simon Tomlinson to form the three-man team representing Jamaica at the championships which ends on February 7.
Watson who handed a commanding 3-0 defeat to Gonzala Lorenzotti of Uruguay, only needs to win one of his two fixtures later today to advance.
It is a similar situation for Hyatt who won a 3-0 walkover due to a no-show by Gabriel Cascante of Costa Rica on Wednesday night.
However, Tomlinson the National Champion lost 0-3 to Puerto Rico’s number-two player Daniel Gonzalez and will have to win both games later to advance.
