Kartel, Masicka high on teenAGE charts

#Hottraxx

Local List1.      Bet Mi Money – Vybz Kartel

Starting off the New Year on the right foot as always is Vybz Kartel with his new single Bet Mi Money. The song, which was released only three weeks ago, has lead me to wonder about certain things. For example: the opening lyrics of the song says “ hold me like yuh neva goin see me again”… I just have to wonder how much more of Kartel are we going to see? I mean I know he’s allegedly supposed to have some reserve of unreleased music that no one has ever heard and that’s what we’ve been living on since his incarceration… but like NWC and the dam I have to wonder how much longer can the reserve last?? A few more years, a couple more months… the rest of Addi’s sentence?2.      Best Girl – Masicka

In second place this week, and quite appropriately at that, is Masicka with Best Girl. The new single speaks about the infamous struggles of Jamaican men who are caught between a rock and a hard place… meaning your girlfriend and the side chick. But I don’t know what he’s thinking in the song with “want you fi meet har”. Bad move bruh, wrong step. Always divide and conquer, and if you can’t multitask leave it alone.3.      My Dream – Nesbeth

Moving up on the list this week is Nesbeth with his new hit single My Dream. The official music video dropped about three weeks ago and amassed over 100,000 views. You really can’t go anywhere without this song playing at least once, so kudos to Nesbeth and keep inspiring the youth to follow their dreams.4.      I-Octane – China Made

Next on the local list is I-Octane with China Made, the upbeat track produced by Good Good Productions, has been making waves over the airwaves and show the ever present diversity of  I-Octane as artiste.5.      Bugle – Rasta Party

Rounding out the local list this week is Bugle with yet another hit single Rasta Party.6.      Alkaline – Try Again

7.      Vybz Kartel – Airhostess

8.      Samantha J – Bad Like Yuh

9.      Popcaan – Homemade

10.  Vybz Kartel – Gaza Gaza

International List1.      Hymn for the Weekend – Coldplay ft Beyonce

In the number one spot on the international list this week, is the band Coldplay and Queen Bey with Hymn for the Weekend. Mrs. Carter, however, has recently come under fire from critics who are accusing the Grammy-winning artiste of cultural appropriation, for dressing in traditional Desi attire while playing the role of a Bollywood actress. Personally it’s neither here nor there to me as the single has still done extremely well, and the music video was a good watch as well.      Real Friends – Kanye West ft Ty Dolla $ign

2.

Landing in second place this week is Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign with their new collaboration, Real Friends. Like you teenAGE was up and live last week when the self proclaimed ‘OG’ came off his throne to deal with, of all persons, Wiz Khalifa over a simple misinterpretation. 3.      Hands to Myself – Selena Gomez

Next on the list is Disney darling turn sexy songstress, Selena Gomez with her new single Hands to Myself. The song was first performed in December of last year when Gomez graced the runway at the Victoria Secret Fashion Show. As if the song itself wasn’t good enough, the music video showing Selena’s perfectly toned curves sent the song hurdling into top ten lists across the globe, having gained over 30 million views on YouTube in under one week. Now, I don’t know about  her co-star Christopher Mason but if Selena broke into my house, I’m not calling the cops… just saying.4.      Pillow Talk – Zayn Malik

In fourth place this week is Pillow Talk by Zayn Malik. Come on guys, you remember Zayn… right? Well to recap, he was the fifth guy in One Direction that left because he said he couldn’t handle the spotlight, tried some graffiti artistry for while, and now he’s pursuing a solo career. Anyway the song is a good listen. Let’s face it the guy has some great vocals and an even better view with model Gigi Hadid as the sexy video vixen, who probably helped the music video to get over 16 million views on YouTube.5.      When We Were Young – Adele

Rounding out the top five this week is British songbird Adele with her new smash hit When We Were Young. I mean, what kind of top ten countdown would this be without an Adele song on list?6.      One Away – Sean Kingston7.      Facts – Kanye West8.      Unstoppable – Sia10.  Stand By You – Rachel Platten

9.      Love Yourself – Justin Bieber
