Sandals Whitehouse gunning for revenge against Clarks Town
WHITEHOUSE, Westmoreland — A revitalised Sandals Whitehouse will be gunning for revenge when they host Zone Two leaders Clarks Town at Whitehouse in Westmoreland as the Jamaica Football Federation Charley’s JB Rum Western Confederation Super League continues with five games.
Clarks Town had beaten Sandals Whitehouse in their first meeting at Cedric Titus High School, and since then the Westmoreland team has improved their team and are on a three-game unbeaten run.
Led by Akeem Shackleford, the Aaron Lawrence-coached team exploded for seven goals in two games before being held 0-0 by Beaches Negril in their last outing.
Clarks Town lead with 16 points after eight games played, two more than Wadadah FC who are two more points ahead of Sandals Whitehouse.
Also today, Zone One leaders Granville FC will host Lucea FC, Beaches Negril go to Village United, Montego Bay Boys Club (MBBC) will host Salt Marsh United, while Petersfield FC are down to host defending champions Savannah SC, who have not showed for their last two games.
Granville FC boast a four-point lead in Zone One and should get the better of Lucea FC for the second time this season after a 2-0 win in the first round.
Four of Granville FC’s six wins were by 1-0 margins, while one came in the ‘board room’ where they were awarded three goals in a win over Savannah SC.
Beaches Negril have earned just two points from their last four games and will hope to snap that run when they take on Village United, who are yet to win a game and were trounced 5-0 by Wadadah last week.
Montego Bay Boys Club’s four-game win streak ended last week when they were beaten 1-0 by Granville at home and will face Salt Marsh on the field for the first time this season.
Boys Club were awarded points from their first-round game where Salt Marsh were found not to have provided sufficient security.
At the time Salt Marsh had won their first three games and were on a roll, but since then they have not won and have fallen to fourth in the table, picking up just one point in that span.
Savannah SC, who have had a mercurial last four years, during which they won the Westmoreland Major League, the Super League twice and created a storm by winning their first three games in the Premier League in the 2012-13 season, are struggling for survival.
They have failed to show up for their last two games, and if they can’t field a team today will automatically be expelled from the competition.
Games in which they participated will be ruled null and void as well, according to the rules of the competition.
