Woman accused of beating her man’s new lover
THERE was high drama inside the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court last week when a teary-eyed woman related her story after being arrested for allegedly beating her lover’s new flame.
Simone Davis informed the court that her man told her that he wanted a new woman and new baby for 2016, and after she left to visit her mother over the Christmas holidays, he moved a new woman into their house.
According to Davis, she returned to the house in Eastwood Park in Kingston, where she had been living with her partner for three years, and found her belongings outside while the “new woman” was inside wearing her clothes.
The court heard that Davis, who is charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, used a piece of board to beat the complainant, causing swelling to her forehead and pain.
But Davis, who was in tears before she explained her situation, denied the allegations while claiming it was the complainant who had helped her “babyfather” to beat her.
The complainant was, however, absent as the accused gave her account of the incident.
“I have been living there for three years with my babyfather and I help pay the rent,” Davis explained. “I went to my mother for Christmas and when I came back I saw a lady in my clothes and my things outside.”
The accused said she asked her partner why the lady was wearing her clothes and he went for a piece of board and used it to hit her.
“Me and my babyfather a fight and she help him beat mi,” Davis said while denying hitting the complainant.
She said that her partner had told her from last year that he wanted “a new woman and new baby for 2016 and so me have to leave”.
Davis told the court that since the incident she and her baby have been homeless.
“Now, I have to stay in my stall at nights, me and the baby have to sleep outside and a me and him pay the rent,” she said.
The magistrate advised Davis to sue the father of her child for her belongings that he had taken out of the house.
“If he throw out your things in the rain and caused them to be damaged, go to the Sutton Street court and take out a summons for him,” the magistrate told Davis.
“Make a list of all the things that he took out of the house and how much they cost and bring it with you,” the magistrate added.
The matter was subsequently scheduled for trial on March 21 and Davis’ bail was extended.
