Calabar’s Tyreke Wilson promises faster times this season
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Calabar’s Tyreke Wilson has promised to go even faster this season, after clocking a smooth 10.97 seconds in his seasonal 100m debut at the Youngster Goldsmith Classic last Saturday.
The 15-year-old, who is recovering from a slight hamstring injury, executed a well-timed race on his way to a commanding victory.
Wilson, a class two phenomenon, along with teammate Dejour Russell, is expected to be a main contender for the sprints at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium from March 15-19.
“My preparations have been good, so I know I was ready. I am looking to go very faster at Champs, somewhere between 10.2 seconds, so I’m just going to continue working hard and try not to get injured,” Wilson said.
