Man batters woman with board, fined $15,000
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A man who used a piece of board to hit a woman in her face, was fined $15,000 after he entered a guilty plea on Tuesday.
Garfield Campbell pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
The court heard that Campbell used a piece of board to beat the complainant in her face, hitting herover her eye.
Campbell was remanded on February 5, after the complainant told the court of her ordeal.
When he appeared in court today, Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey sentenced Campbell to pay a fined of $15,000 or serve six months in prison.
