Jamaican members of Windies U-19 feted upon arrival
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Jamaican members of the history-making West Indies Under-19 team were feted at a welcome reception hosted by regional cricket sponsor Digicel inside the Pineapple Lounge at the Norman Manley International Airport on Wednesday.
Michael Frew and Shahid Crooks, both of St Elizabeth Technical High School, and Odean Smith of Maggotty High, were a part of the regional squad that defeated favourites India in the ICC Youth World Cup in Bangladesh days ago.
The trio returned to the island today.
They were greeted by parents and other relatives, representatives of both schools, West Indies Cricket Board President Whycliffe ‘Dave’ Cameron, Jamaica Cricket Association boss Wilford ‘Billy’ Heaven, chairman of the local Under-19 selection committee Wayne Lewis, and representatives of Digicel.
