4 records tumble at SW Isaac Henry invitational track meet
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Four records were shattered at the 2016 SW Isaac Henry Invitational Track & Field meet at the National Stadium on Saturday.
In the men’s 10-99 5,000 metre open run, Garfield Gordon of Mavis Bank High clocked 15:47:11 minutes to erase the previous record of 17:09:93 minutes set by Oshane Archibald of GC Foster College.
Makeda Newman from Spalding High won the girls’ 15-16 400 metre class two run in 56:49 seconds, beating the previous mark of 57:21 held by her teammate Jezelle Shaw.
In the women’s 12-99 4×800-metre relay invitational, Spalding High cruised to victory in a time of 9:19:54 minutes to erase their previous record of 9:38:78 minutes.
Delan Dixon of Maximum Aero won the men’s 20-99 800-metre run invitation in 1:58:4 minutes, smashing the previous record of 2:00:31 minutes held by Chevane Hamilton.
