Bowens, Moores eye quarter-final spots in Clarendon Major League
MAY PEN, Clarendon — At least two more teams could advance to the quarter-final round of the Clarendon FA/Captain’s Bakery Major League when preliminary round action resumes today.
So far, title holders Jamalco FC and Sporting Central Academy are the two teams to book their spots in the last eight, and former champions New Bowens and Moores United need only a point to join them today. Both sides will be on the road; Bowens travel to Treadlight in Zone B, while Moores will play away to Wood Hall in Zone C. Elsewhere, Four Paths host Black Stars in Zone A at the Four Paths Community Centre.Game time is 3:30 at all venues.Bowens are on 10 points in Zone B and, with only one game to go after this one, a draw against last-placed Treadlight (five) will be good enough to secure second place.Moores, second in Zone C, also have 10 points and are guaranteed a place in the next round, at least as one of the best third-placed teams, once they can avoid defeat at Wood Hall (five). While Four Paths (seven) cannot secure a quarter-final berth today, the top two teams in their group — Comfort FC and Kemps Hill, both on 12 points — will advance should the former champions fail to beat Black Stars (four).
