Jamaica gymnastics team departs for USA tomorrow
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica National Gymnastics team are scheduled to depart the island on Thursday to compete at the G-Force Gymnastics Annual Caribbean Fest in Virginia, United States.
The 27-member junior team, ranging from Level 1-7, will spring into action on February 27.
After topping the Caribbean Gymnastics Championships (CGC) in November last year, the team was later pooled together and will be competing outside of the Caribbean for the first time as a unit.
Jamin Levy and Daniel Williams, two senior members of the national male team, will also be departing the island with the junior team to participate in a one-month camp at the same gym.
The delegation will be led by coaches Nadine Whyte and Shin Nishida, along with president of the Jamaica Amateur Gymnastic Association (JAGA), Nicole Grant-Brown.
Jamaica currently has two overseas-based gymnasts in Toni -Ann Williams and Caleb Faulk-Fischle competing at an Olympic test event in Rio, Brazil, with hopes of securing qualifying spots to the Games to be held in August.
