#DecisionJa2016: JLP, PNP supporters use election day to reconnect
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Supporters of the country’s two main political parties, especially those who cast their votes in St Andrew Southern and the neighboring Kingston Western constituencies, used today’s general election to re-establish bonds which had been severed due to violence.
“Over the years, politics and other things created barriers between people in both constituencies,” said Sandra Walcott, a resident in Hanna Town.
“Today we know many people came out expecting to see us go down that route again, but we want to let them know that we have matured,” said Walcott.
She was surrounded by supporters from both the Jamaica Labour Party and Pthe People’s National party as she spoke.
“Is true she talking. We are here trying to set an example that we will have to live with each other after politics,” said another supporter who identified herself as Dahlia.
