#DecisionJa2016: Slow but constant turnout in Catherine East Central
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – Despite a low turnout so far, members of the St Catherine East Central community were out at 7:00 am this morning to cast their votes.
One resident, known only as Babu, said he felt the need to vote after living in the community for 44 years and seeing little to no development under the incumbent Arnaldo Brown.
“Arnaldo Brown not doing anything. Is only near election time you see him up and about in the community. JLP’s Alando Terrelonge has a better vision for the people and the children so my vote is with him,” he told OBSERVER ONLINE.
Another resident, Paula Brown says she had much anticipation to cast her vote this morning in light of the economic state of the country.
“With the way the country is heading, no matter how small my vote is I felt it important to vote,” she said.
64-year-old Othniel Tulloch has expressed that his desire to vote was led by the lack of jobs available to individuals.
“We need to see more factories up so that people can get work because nutten naa gwan,” he said.
A total of 28,439 individuals are expected to vote in the St Catherine East Central.
