PCL Update: Rain interrupts Pride’s momentum
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The outlook was different from both sets of players as rain ruined a significant chunk of day two in the WICB Professional Cricket League four-day match between Jamaica Scorpions and Barbados Pride at Sabina Park.
Jamaica Scorpions were 22-2 in their second innings, still behind the Pride by 18 runs, after only 58 overs and four balls of a possible 90 overs were bowled due to the rain interruption.
Earlier, the Pride were bowled out for 217 in their first innings after being in a seemingly good position at 103-3 overnight.
Scores: Scorpions 177 & 22-2; Pride 217.
Scorpions’ left-arm finger spinner Miller, who took 8-67 to drag his team back into the contest, said the interruption was a welcome one after Barbados grabbed the two second-innings wickets.
“I would like to think it was a good break for us because Barbados, I believe, were on top and got those two wickets. We just have to come tomorrow and start anew,” the spinner said.
Kraigg Brathwaite, the Pride captain, conceded that his team’s momentum was interrupted.
“It was really frustrating [that play ended early], but we can’t do anything about that. We just have to hope for good weather tomorrow and the guys have to come out with the same energy and bowl them out as cheaply as possible,” said the Pride skipper.
