DANCEHALL deejay Assassin (aka Agent Sasco) has scored his first charted album on Billboard. His latest effort Theory of Reggaetivity, released on his Sound H Entertainment label, debuts at number three on the Billboard Reggae album chart.

The 14-track set is Assassin’s third album to date. It features production work from Silly Walks Discotheque, Ranch Entertainment, Chimney Records, Lifeline Music, Major Label Music Group, Sound Check, Notice Productions, Paris Lamont and Theo Butler, among others.

Assassin was quite upbeat about the album’s success.

“It’s incredible to know that the album is doing well on the Billboard chart as well as on iTunes. Working on this album was about having fun and concentrating on the creation, and not tying it to any outcome. For me, it was about the process,” he told the

Jamaica Observer yesterday.

Assassin’s previous releases were 2005’s Infiltration and 2007’s Gully Sit’n. Neither albums charted on Billboard.

“This is a different kind of satisfaction. To have this tangible evidence is great. Number three on Billboard and number two on iTunes is great. I am humbled by it,” he said.

The 33-year-old deejay first emerged on the scene in 2000. He has to date scored hit songs including To Make Money, Roughest and Toughest, Girls Gone Wild, Hands Inna Di Air, As a Man and Don’t Make We Hold You.

Last year he was featured on American rapper Kendrick Lamar’s single B lacker the Berry, which was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America for sales of over 500,000 copies. The single is included on the rapper’s recent Grammy-winning platinum selling album To Pimp a Butterfly.

On Monday, the deejay hosted Lamar for the first time at Usain Bolt’s Tracks and Records at Marketplace in St Andrew. The rapper was in the island for a brief vacation.

Songs on Theory of Reggaetivity include Stronger, Country Bus, Africa and No Slaves.
