DHL excels
International express services provider DHL has been certified as a Top Employer in North America, Latin America and the Caribbean for 2016, the company said in a news release.
The certification was granted by the Top Employers Institute, which also named DHL among eight companies worldwide as recipients of the Global Top Employer award.
“The annual international research that the Top Employers Institute conducts for the certification recognises leading employers around the world — those that provide an excellent employee environment, nurture and develop talent throughout all levels of the organisation, and strive to continuously optimise employment practices,” DHL explained.
In the Americas region, the certification was granted to seven countries – the United States, Barbados, Brazil, Curacao, Jamaica, Mexico and Venezuela. DHL Express also received Top Employer certifications in Europe, Africa, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. Overall, DHL entities in 44 countries were granted certifications.
“DHL is proud to be recognised as a top employer throughout the Americas region,” the company release quoted Donovan James, country manager of DHL Express Jamaica. “This is an outstanding honour that acknowledges the complete dedication we have to our employees. We believe that by providing employees with tools and support to fully develop their skills, and by having a strong culture of recognition, we are nurturing an exceptional workforce.”
Top Employers, DHL explained, “must demonstrate the highest standards of employee offerings and have a forward-thinking human resources environment. A stringent research process is undertaken to confirm meeting the institute’s required standards before Top Employers certification is granted. The certification process includes independent audits of research answers”.
The Top Employers Institute assessed DHL on the following criteria: Talent Strategy; Workforce Planning; On-Boarding; Learning & Development; Performance Management; Leadership Development; Career & Succession Management; Compensation & Benefits; and Culture.
“Optimal employee conditions ensure that people can develop themselves personally and professionally,” the release quoted Dennis Utter, global business director for the Top Employers Institute. “Our comprehensive research concluded that DHL provides an outstanding employment environment and offers a wide range of creative initiatives, from secondary benefits to performance-management programmes that are well thought out and truly aligned with the culture of their company.”
The Top Employer Institute recognised DHL for its strong culture of recognition. The company offers a variety of ways for employees to be recognised – for career milestones, living a ‘Safety First’ mentality, or displaying core DHL values.
Describing itself as ‘The logistics company for the world’, DHL’s family of divisions offer a portfolio of services ranging from national and international parcel delivery, international express, road, air and ocean transport to industrial supply chain management. The company, which employs more than 325,000 people in over 220 countries and territories worldwide, is part of Deutsche Post DHL Group.
The Group generated revenues of more than 56 billion euros in 2014.
