Santos, Kings, Harbour View, Park Rovers hunt Golden League football titles
Santos and Kings will contest tomorrow’s final of the 2016 Bull Investment/Cablepro Data Services-sponsored Golden League Football Competition, after scoring identical 1-0 victories over Dunns All Stars and Real Mona, respectively, in Sunday semi-finals at the NWC playing field, Mona.
In the knockout semi-finals, Park Rovers stopped Nautica 2-0 and Harbour View defeated Kush 5-2 on penalies, after both teams played to a 1-1 full and extra time result.
The knockout final will be played at 3:00 pm tomorrow, while the league final will kick off at 4:30 pm.
In the league semi-finals, Santos had to dig deep to find the winner, which came off the boots of substitute John McKoy, with only a few minutes remianing to the end of full time.
In the other game, former St George’s College Manning Cup standout, Nicholas Ziadie found the target in the 15th minute to propel Kings to victory.
Meanwhile, former double league champions Park Rover booked their place in the KO final after Woodrow Coleman and Caple Clarke hit the target, while Harbour View had to wait on penalties to eliminate Kush. Rohan McDermott gave Harbour View the lead on 10 minutes, only to register an unfortunate own goal 11 minutes later to tie up the score, thus neccesitating penalties, where they proved more accurate.
