Gary Glitter going from strength to strength
The Dalton Sirjue-conditioned Gary Glitter continued to show noticeable improvement when he won the top-rated Overnight Allowance event at Caymanas Park last Saturday.
It was the bay gelding’s second time running at this level and completed his fourth win from his last six starts.
His first attempt at this level came seven days before, when after stumbling badly at the start, he then had to go wide in the straight to finish in fifth position, six lengths behind Force De Jour, Berranca and Blue Dixie going 1,200 metres.
Last Saturday, Gary Glitter, again ridden by Ameth Robles, made no mistake when romping home by three comfortable lengths over 1,000 metres straight in a time of 0:57:4 seconds on a good racing surface.
“I didn’t have much to do in the race. He (Gary Glitter) just ran away from the field to win very easily in the end.
“It was a good run and he actually showed how strong he is at the end of the race. He is a nice horse that is going places,” Robles told the Complete Racing Guide.
At the off, Gary Glitter and Sir Budget (Anthony Thomas) matched strides for most of the way in the quick sprint event. After passing the dummy rails, the offspring of Deputy Glitters – True Virtue responded to the instructions of Robles by powering home to score an emphatic win in the three-year-old and upward event.
“He made one move to win the race.
“The performance was great; it was a good win for him.
“He continues to show improvement and he is going from strength to strength,” Sirjue said.
