Felicia Peterkin-Campbell is Miss Wag Water Valley 2016
EIGHTEEN-year-old Felicia Peterkin-Campbell is Miss Wag Water Valley 2016.
Ashley Bernard was first runner-up, while Brittany Hart finished as second runner-up.
Peterkin-Campbell, who was a crowd favourite, finished ahead of seven other contestants at the coronation show held at the Tapioca Village Retreat in Devon Pen, St Mary, on August 6.
She copped four of the sectional prizes, walking away with Most Congenial, Most Aware, Best Talent, and Best Dress. Tracy-Ann Phillips was adjudged Most Popular and Best Smile, while Jamilla Wright walked away with Best Technical Paper.
Peterkin-Campbell, for her talent piece, gave a descriptive recollection of the Armadale Fire, which took the lives of seven girls and injured several others. Two of the deceased were from Wag Water Valley.
“I am happy! I tried my best and I was not surprised that I won the sectional prizes as I knew I did well in all areas,” the teen said after being crowned.
“It was very overwhelming but I represented my community well and will set an example by implementing a homework programme,” she added.
Peterkin-Campbell, who is from Rock River in the parish, said she will be using her newly found platform to reach out to youth.
