I have my mind on the championship – Wesley Henry
Wesley Henry is known and loved by racing fans for his special ability to ride front-runners to victory, but he is equally effective when getting horses to come from behind. He lived up to expectations when he booted home three winners on the 11-race O&S Tack Room Supplies Race Day programme at Caymanas Park last Saturday.
Henry started in the sixth race by winning aboard the Fitzroy Glispie-trained Adios Amigos in the Jacks Manufacturing Dash over 1,200 metres.
He continued his form in the very next race aboard Phineas, who won the Overnight Allowance Grade 1 Muscle Mix over 1,400 metres.Phineas is trained by Andrew McDonald.
The cap came in the feature – the fourth running of the $868,000 O&S Tack Room Trophy aboard Chace The Great. Trained by Dwight Chen, Chace The Great won by two-and-a-half lengths, equalling the stakes record of 1:18.1 minutes for 1,300 metres.
“The feeling is good; really good. I am really very fit right now and I am trying to get some good rides from the other day.
“I am trying to get closer to the jockeys’ championship, which I have my mind on.
“It is going to be very hard work, but the more winners I ride, the closer I get,” Henry declared.
