Montego Bay cool Waterhouse with 4-0 thrashing

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Leaders Montego Bay United (MBU) ended a three-game winless run with an emphatic 4-0 triumph over Waterhouse FC at Drewsland on Sunday to kick off the third round of the Jamaica Premier League.

MBU avenged two losses to Waterhouse who had beaten them twice this season, the most recent coming six days prior, and ended an eight-game unbeaten run by the Kingston team.

The Montego Bay side led 1-0 at halftime before exploding for three more in the final 23 minutes of the game. The win brings them to 54 points, five more than Mount Pleasant FA who blanked Molynes United 2-0 at Drax Hall, their first win over that Kingston team this season.

Also on Sunday, Portmore United beat Harbour View 4-2 at Ferdie Neita Park, defending champions Cavalier edged Treasure Beach FC 1-0 at the STETHS Sports Complex and Chapelton Maroons beat Dunbeholden 2-0.

At Drewsland, MBU finally got the better of Waterhouse, arguably the most improved team since the second round, taking the lead in the 11th minute when Timar Lewis scored from close range.

Kimani Arbouine scored his first for MBU to give them a 2-0 lead in the 67th minute, Brian Brown made the score 3-0 in the 74th minute before Malachi Sterling added a fourth in the 83rd minute.

It was the fourth time MBU were scoring at least four goals in a game, bringing their tally to a league leading 49.

Mount Pleasant took over second place for at least 24 hours after blanking Molynes 2-0. National under-20 representative Jabarie Howell scored a double, in the 57th and 71st minutes.

The win took Mount Pleasant to a point ahead of Racing United who play on Monday.

Portmore ended a three-game winless run by completing a clean sweep of their regular season series against Harbour View, outscoring them 4-2 with Tedj Bryan giving them a 2-0 lead in the first half hour. Bryan started the scoring in the 17th minute and added a second in the 29th minute.

Trayvone Reid, who scored a double for Harbour View to take his league leading tally to 14 goals, pulled a goal back in the 48th minute, but the home team responded with goals from second half substitutes Romeo Guthrie in the 72nd and Ronaldo Robinson in the 85th minute.
Reid completed his brace in time added.

Cavalier made it four straight wins, edging Treasure Beach 1-0 with Romarion Thomas scoring the lone goal of the game in the 66th minute as they improved to 42 points, swapping spots with Waterhouse as they moved into fifth place.

Chapelton Maroons ended a three-game losing skid with a 2-0 win over Dunbeholden FC and returned to seventh place on 35 points.

An own goal in the 14th minute gave Chapelton the lead before Leaunghn Williams came off the bench to score in the 81st minute.

In the other game played on Sunday, Tivoli Gardens and Spanish Town Police FC played out a 0-0 draw. Tivoli played the entire second half with 10 players after Tkiven Garnett was sent off just before halftime.

Sunday’s results
Treasure Beach FC-0, Cavalier SC-1
Chapelton Maroons FC-2, Dunbeholden FC-0
Portmore United-4, Harbour View FC-2
Spanish Town Police FC-0 Tivoli Gardens FC-0
Mt Pleasant FA-2, Molynes United- 0
Waterhouse FC-0, Montego Bay United-4
