Photo: Kingston welcomes cruise passengers
Kingston yesterday welcomed its first cruise ship in three years when Pullmantur’s cruise line’s, Monarch, docked in the city’s port with a little over 2,000 passengers aboard. The ship, which sailed from Cartagena, Colombia, was initially destined for Montego Bay, but had to stop in Kingston as the ports in Ocho Rios, Falmouth and Montego Bay were full. In Ocho Rios, the Norwegian Epic and Princess Cruises’ Coral Princess made calls, while Montego Bay will saw Thomson Dream and Aida Amar. Falmouth, meanwhile, hosted the second appearance of the world’s largest cruise ship, Harmony of the Seas. The Monarch is the biggest cruise ship to ever call on the capital city, Kingston.
