Redd Foxx, The Lark, Hot Spur are Capital/Observer Tipsters’ champions
Perkin Hawthorn (Redd Foxx), Mark Orelue (The Lark) and Leslie McLean (Hot Spur) have emerged as the overall champions in the 2016 Capital Betting and Wagering Limited/ Jamaica Observer Tipsters’ Competition.
Hawthorn was a clear winner in the Monetary Category, while in the 21st history of the competition two tipsters — Orelue and McLean — have tied in the Most Wins Category.
Hawthorn received $50,000 as the winner and Orelue and McLean both walked away with $25,000 each for their efforts.
Hawthorn showed his class as he was the only tipster to finish above the $20,000 minimal mark. He ended with $20,524 to take the title. Donald Bahadur (Sir Donald), who had a mere $922, was the nearest tipster to Hawthorn.
In what was a very close race for the start of the competition involving six tipsters, Orelue and McLean pulled away in the final quarter from their opponents. With nothing to separate the two, they finished with 270 winners each to share the top prize. Roshane Deuse (The Future) fell 13 winners behind to finish in third place, with 257 winners ahead of Mario McCulloch (Slip Saddle) on 254 winners.
Managing director for Capital Betting and Wagering Limited, Egerton Chang is pleased with how the competition has grown over the years.
“This competition is going on for a while now and I am pleased with the progress. It is getting better and better over the years.
But it is not only Capital and Wagering Limited, but Capital and Wagering Limited/Jamaica Observer Tipsters’ Competition, and I think that this competition is the best tipsters competition here in Jamaica, as we are doing far better than any other tipsters competition,” he said.
“Congratulations to Redd Foxx, The Lark and Hot Spur for being the 2016 champions. I am expecting another competitive year again and good luck to all tipsters.” Chang ended.
