The Heart Foundation of Jamaica held its annual Proven Run For Your Heart presentation ceremony for the schools, companies and individuals who performed exceptionally well in their fund raising efforts for the event held in November 2016.

The award ceremony was held at the Altamont Court Hotel and saw awardees walking away with trophies, weekend passes to hotels, gift certificates and baskets from sponsors. Donations were handed over to the Heart Foundation from Proven Wealth, main sponsors, Foska Oats and Running Events Limited. Winners for the day included:

• Hillel Academy – School with the highest sponsorship

• Gawayne Green – Individual with the highest sponsorship

• Zachary Williams (Hillel Prep) and Kayla Wright (St. Hugh’s Prep) – Top Boy & Girl sponsors

• Access Financial Services – Highest Team Sponsorship from a company

• YMCA Sidekicks and Proven Wealth – Largest Company Team

One objective of the Heart Foundation of Jamaica is to promote heart health in Jamaica. With heart disease being the number one killer in Jamaica, the Foundation uses funds from this event to continue to offer services at subsidized rates. This event also assists in bringing to everyone’s attention the benefits of a regular exercise programme as part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
