Big Mountain heads to India
California band Big Mountain heads to India late this month for seven shows. The group will play in major cities, including Hyderabad and Mumbai.
The qunitet, which includes two Jamaicans, open in Bangalore March 23 at the Blue Frog.
Two days later, the group will play the Hard Rock Cafe in Hyderabad. On the 28th, Big Mountain will do a charity show in Nilambur.
The other gigs are in Mumbai, Pune, Gurgaon and New Delhi. The latter hosts the final show on April 2 at Playboy Cafe.
Indian artistes Shibani Kashyap and DJ Nasha will accompany them in Mumbai, Gurgaon and New Delhi.
Big Mountain broke through in 1994 with a cover of Peter Frampton’s Baby I Love Your Way. Last May Perfect Summer was released, the group’s first album in 10 years.
Lead singer Joaquin “Quino” McWhinney remains the band’s frontman. Jamaicans Richard Campbell (keyboards) and drummer Paul Kastick; guitarist/vocalist Danny Lopilato and bassist Mike Ortiz complete the current line-up.
