The US Virgin Islands (USVI) has a vibrant reggae scene. Acts like Pressure Buss Pipe, Midnite, Niyorah, and Dezarie have successful careers.

Revalation Da Royal is ready to make his mark. His song, Like Yesterday, is making waves on FM radio locally.

“Revalation was forged from a world of humble beginnings and fueled by an unrelenting passion for music. What I bring to the table musically is a mantra of thought-provoking messages, real-life scenarios, righteousness, knowledge, and conscious lyrics that relaxes your mind and makes you feel great inside,” Revalation Da Royal said.

Born Jason Williams on the island of St Thomas, he lists Bob Marley, Garnet Silk, Jimmy Cliff, Peter Tosh, Gregory Isaacs, Capleton, Buju Banton, and Sizzla among his influences.

“These artistes influence me with words of righteousness, knowledge within the lyrics, and spiritual motivation. This gave me a drive to create music of the same genre,” Revalation Da Royal said.

Florida-based Willie Lindo — known for his work with Dennis Brown and Beres Hammond — and Marvin Williams of Voiceful Records, are producers he has worked with.

He has one album to date, 2008’s Serious Matters.
