Marl Road avenge first-round loss to Mountain Villa
BICKERSTETH, St James — Marl Road avenged their first-round loss to Mountain Villa FC with a 2-1 win in their return-round meeting at Bickersteth Community Centre on Friday in their St James Football Association Sandals International Senior League.
The win, Marl Road’s second of the second round, lifted them off the foot of the table in Zone One and into third place on seven points, just one behind Heights FC.
Meanwhile, Heights FC’s clash with Club Stars at the UDC field was called off after 70 minutes following a penalty awarded to Heights by Referee Ojay Duhaney which was hotly disputed by the Club Stars players.
The game was locked at 0-0 at the stoppage.
At Bickersteth, Oneil Parkinson gave the home team the lead in the 28th minute as they led 1-0 at the half-time break, but Mountain Villa drew level in the 66th minute when Romaine Cameron scored.
Dalkeith McPherson scored the winner for Marl Road in the 84th minute, however, to take his team off the foot of the table.
