UPDATE: Schoolgirl succumbs to injuries after being hit by taxi

MANDEVILLE, Jamaica — A student of the Victor Dixon High School who was on Friday hospitalised in critical condition after she was hit by a taxi has since died.

Police reports are that the incident happened on her way to school just after 7:30 am.

The female student, 14-year-old Amelia Willis, was reportedly crossing the road in the vicinity of the May Day/ Manchester Road junction (below Northern Caribbean University), when, according to police, she was hit by a taxi.

She reportedly landed on a motor vehicle going in the opposite direction.

Willis was being treated at Mandeville Regional Hospital up to yesterday afternoon.
