Manchioneal retain Portland Credit Union KO title
MANCHIONEAL, Portland — Manchioneal squeezed by Ujama 3-2 to retain the Portland FA/Portland Credit Union knockout title at Jones Park on Saturday.
Manchioneal’s goals were scored by Keslon Hall (67th minute), Khandean Smith (78th) and Rondee Smith (85th). Ujama got their goals courtesy of Kemar Anderson (35th) and Michael Harris (86th).
They victors’ collected the championship trophy and $100,000, while Ujama earned $60,000 for their effort.
Winning coach, Lamount Henry, was elated at game’s end.
“I give thanks to the Almighty as we came to perform at the final and we did. I give thanks to the captain and the team for their performance. We are unstoppable,” he said.
Losing coach, Gary Dinal, was gracious in defeat.
“We give credit to Manchioneal as we scored first, they took the game to us and came out on top. We started the game missing some of our first-string players, plus they capitalised on some of our mistakes,” he noted.
Marketing manager of the Portland Credit Union, Anthony Morrison, said he enjoyed the final.
“I loved the game, it was real exciting and it’s a long time we’ve not seenthis type of score, 3-2. We always wanted to have a final out into the east and today we got that, we hadgood weather, good game, good score and we got good support and we are happy about that,” he said.
