TA opens on Sundays ahead of March 31 deadline for PPV licensing
KINGSTON, Jamaica —The Transport Authority said it will be opening motor vehicle examination facilities on Sundays during the month of March to facilitate the continued examination process of Public Passenger Vehicles (PPV) to meet the licensing renewal/reapplication deadline of March 31, 2017.
In a release today, Acting General Manager of Human Resources & Administration at the Authority said that the various examination facilities across the island will open from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday, March 19 and 26.
On Sunday, March 19 customers may access examinations at the
• Northern Regional Office, Tower Isle, St Mary; and
• Lakes Pen, St Catherine pounds
Additionally on Sunday, March 26, the following pounds will provide services:
• Lakes Pen, St Catherine
• Montego Bay Transportation Centre, Barnett Street, Montego Bay
• Hatfield Pound, Manchester
The authority said the extension of opening hours for motor vehicle examination is part of its thrust to provide convenient and efficient service to customers.
Under this facility, licensees are not required to pay the motor vehicle examination fee upfront, as the fees will be collected upon submission of their applications for renewal of their road licenses.
The authority further urged operators to apply for their road licence on time and avoid paying the late fee, which takes effect April 1.
