Motor show a success as discounts attract buyers
Kent LaCroix, head of the Automobile Dealers Association, said that the motor show held in Kingston over the weekend was a success. The ADA show this year was held across several dealer locations, with individual companies hosting attendees.
LaCroix said that while he was yet to collect data from individual companies, “…all I can say is that it was quite a success”.
Meanwhile, ATL also held its own car show in Kingston. Christina Thwaites, ATL group marketing manager, told the Jamaica Observer, “Sales went really well, persons were not only interested in seeing what we had to offer by way of our Parts & Accessories Sale, service workshops, exhibitors on display, and variety of models from pre-owned to supercars, but they came out to purchase.”
ATL Automotives Ltd staged its Auto Revolution at its showrooms at Oxford Road in Kingston, from March 10 to 12.
Competing dealers staged what they called the ADA Auto Circuit – Kingston from March 9 to 12. Participants included Toyota Jamaica, Kingston Industrial Garage, Fidelity Motors, Stewart’s Automotive, and Magna Motors Dealership. Incentives offered included a $1-million discount on purchase.
Thwaites noted that highlights of the Auto Revolution included the concert on Saturday evening featuring “Volkswagen Brand Ambassador Denyque, Tosh Alexander and Tarrus Riley who all performed to a full capacity crowd, and the Kids Zone hosted by B3 featuring a Fundaciones Learning Corner and National Bakery activity centre.”
As to actual sales, the marketing manager said all brands had a good sales ratio, with the majority going to Honda CR-V as the most popular.
At the ATL Auto Revolution, discounts varied per brand.
The Porsche Cayenne Turbo had a $5 million discount. Another discount offer was the Buy 1, Get 1 offer – involving purchase of a BMW M4, Audi R8 or Porsche Cayenne Turbo and receipt of a free Volkswagen pick-up with the purchase.
There were also cash-back sales promotions on all Audi models and the BMW 3 Series. Thwaites said the sale ends Saturday, March 18th.
“Our finance partners include: Scotiabank, NCB, JN Bank, CIBC, JMMB, FGB and C&WJ Cooperative Credit Union, who all came out with competitive rates as low as six per cent — the lowest the market has ever seen,” the ATL group marketing manager said.
