Clean-up of Kingston Harbour oil spill satisfactory, says NEPA
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) has expressed satisfaction with the clean-up efforts undertaken by Petrojam thus far following last week’s oil spill at the facility.
In a statement this afternoon, NEPA said that most of the oil has been removed from the sea and shoreline and Petrojam has assured that the clean-up will be completed by Friday.
Last Wednesday, NEPA, after receiving reports that an oil spill occurred in the Kingston Harbour, assessed the situation and collaborated with the Jamaica Defence Force Coast Guard (JDFCG) and other entities to carry out the cleanup process.
