Apollo Bay should hold court in juvenile race
Seven two-year-olds, the largest juvenile field thus far this year, are entered to face the starter tomorrow over four furlongs straight (800m).
Leading this young posse is the most experienced of the lot, Apollo Bay, who has already raced two times, finishing second on both occasions. The first time on June 24, Apollo Bay ( Performing Magic – Circle The Heart), trained by Anthony Nunes, finished second behind stablemate Necromancer, while on July 15 the dark bay colt found himself behind Exhilarate.
Apollo Bay is one of three horses in the race with at least a run under their girths, the others being Dad’s Luck ( Silent Valor – Flight Plan) trained by Christopher Pierre and Hot Ice ( Film Director – Ice Crystal) trained, owned and bred by Lorenzo Robinson. Apollo Bay was ahead of Dad’s Luck by just about two lengths went they met, and two lengths in front of Ice Baby when they competed on July 15. Apollo Bay races tomorrow with the tongue tie declared.
Two of the four first-time starters in the race, Woodhouse, a bay colt by Emperor Hall – Gold Flinger; and Honey Ryda, a chestnut filly by Adore The Gold — Kathythetraina, are conditioned by trainer Richard Azan. It should be noted that stable jockey Shane Ellis has chosen to ride the chestnut filly, Honey Ryda, who has no equipment or Lasix declared.
The remaining debutantes are Alexandra, a bark bay colt by Blue Pepsi Lodge – Grace Marie trained by Ian Parsard, and So Smooth, a bay filly by Storm Craft – Sunshine of My Life trained by Howard Jaghai.
