Lee Milla is one of the most sought after music producers in the dancehall industry.

Boasting a very impressive r é sum é , the 30-year-old has worked with some of dancehall’s top-flight acts including Vybz Kartel, Mavado, Alkaline, and Vershon.

He is currently enjoying a buzz from his latest rhythms Golden, which features Alkaline’s Golden; and La Vida, the base for Mavado’s No Freak.

In an interview with Splash, Lee Milla said he recently has broadened his scope and has added the title of artiste manager to his portfolio. The producer said he recently signed up-and-coming singjay Deizzle to his Lee Milla Productions record label.

“I like to give people a chance. Somebody gave me a chance and I am passing on the kindness. I believe that it is in our job description as producers to work with emerging talents and not just those artistes who have already made a breakthrough,” he said.

“Deizzle is known for songs like From Back, Proud and Thumbs Up. He is a really talented artiste and the world should expect great things from him,” he added.

Lee Milla told Splash that he fully understands the plight of young entertainers and how challenging it can be to get a break in the industry.

“I remember how difficult it was as a young producer, because I didn’t have the credentials or accolades to attain the interest of the seasoned and more established artistes,” he said.

Lee Milla got involved in music production around eight years ago as a protégé of Cordell “Skatta” Burrell.

Among his first set of projects was the Puco rhythm, which featured Deva Brat, Fambo, Singer J, and Twin Of Twins featuring Scratchy B of Cash Money.

To date he has put his stamp on hits such as Swear to Jah and Ah Wah Do Dem by Vybz Kartel; Life Lost by Popcaan featuring Jah Vinci; Mavado’s Beat and Teach; Mercy A God from Vershon; and Wait Yuh Turn, Try Again, Formula and After All by Alkaline.

Born Leonandre Miller, Lee Milla attended Camperdown High School. Moving to Canada, he studied engineering at Toronto Audio Recording Academy. He went full-time into music production nearly 10 years ago after returning to Jamaica.
