‘Mr Calabar’ Dr Donald Phillibert recognised
One of the outstanding graduates of Calabar High School, Dr Donald Phillibert was among those specially recognised during the National Honours and Awards ceremony held at King’s House on National Heroes Day last Monday.
Manhattan, New York-based Dr Phillibert, whose area of medical specialisation is obstetrics and gynaecology, has been practising for over 40 years and is well known as the largest individual sponsor of Calabar High School, his alma mater, in various projects over the years. He was bestowed with the Order of Distinction (Commander Class) for contribution in the field of medicine, in particular gynaecology, as well as education, sports, and to the Jamaican Diaspora.
But it is his dedication to the cause of Calabar High School that some have pinpointed him with the words: Well done, Mr Calabar!
