Dunn’s win a victory for the people of St Mary SE, says G2K
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Generation 2000 (G2K), the young professional affiliate of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) says that Dr Norman Dunn’s victory in the St Mary South East by-election as a victory for the people.
The group, in a release this afternoon, said that after initially being counted as the winner in the February 25, 2016 General Election, Dr Dunn’s victory was “snatched away by way of a magisterial recount that disqualified ballots that were in his favour”.
G2K said Dr Dunn, however, continued to serve the constituency despite his initial loss.
“It is evident that his dedication to the people of South-East St Mary was a major factor in his massive win in the by-election that was held on October 30th …,” G2K release said.
According to G2K General Secretary, Oludiad Brown, “Dr Dunn’s continuous work in the constituency, despite not holding office, is evidence of his tremendous dedication to the people, and to Jamaica by extension. This is in contrast to his opponent who was parachuted in to contest the seat at the last minute. It was the people of South-East St Mary who were victorious at the polls, given that they have elected a person who is more interested in serving the community than the acquisition of power. There is no doubt that his unwavering commitment will yield great benefits for the constituency.”
