UWI students stage fund-raiser in fight against Lupus
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Students of the Producing Culture — Music, Events and Festivals class of 2017 at t he University of the West Indies (UWI), Western Jamaica Campus, will host a fund-raising event in support of the fight against Lupus in Jamaica.
The event, billed ‘Tropical Persuasion’, is set for Tropical Bliss Beach on November 25, starting at 6:00 pm.
The picturesque and spacious venue will be transformed into an unforgettable Hawaiian- themed experience for a tropical party vibe, while supporting a worthy cause.
“The aim of the event is to enable much-needed funding to the Lupus Foundation of Jamaica, and to help in supporting and improving the quality of life for thousands of Jamaicans currentlyliving with Lupus,” explained Randy McTyson, project manager of Tropical Persuasion.
McTyson shared that in order to solidify commitment to this cause, there will be two primary activities catering to the involvement of everyone leading up to Tropical Persuasion, which is the main event.
“In keeping with the tropical theme of the event, we will be hosting a “Wata War” and donation drive on Thursday (today) on the grounds of the UWI Western Jamaica Campus. Following that, on Thursday, November 23, we will be carrying out a donation drive in Sam Sharpe [Square],” McTyson added.
“We are excited about the project. now we are getting an opportunity to do something impactful, and yet still bring the fun for persons. We have DJ Crazy Neil, well known in party circles, as well as the hot DJ 47 and Mixx Doctor. Drumming and fire performances are also down for the day,” McTyson revealed.
