FC Reno to host Cavalier at Frome
FROME, Westmoreland – FC Reno will play for the first time in two weeks on Sunday when they host Cavalier SC in a Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) game at the Frome Sports Complex set to start at 3:00 pm.
FC Reno, who hammered Portmore United 3-0 at Frome two weeks ago, were given an unscheduled break after Monday’s game against Harbour View was postponed due to a waterlogged field.
Meanwhile, former champions Montego Bay United (MBU) and promoted Sandals South Coast who both scored 1-0 wins last Sunday, will be playing games away from home.
MBU will travel to face Portmore at Prison Oval after edging Waterhouse at the Montego Bay Sports Complex, while Sandals South Coast will be at UWI FC after getting their first RSPL victory on Sunday at Frome, beating Boys’ Town FC.
The RSPL, involving the western-based teams, will continue next Wednesday with Sandals SC and FC Reno meeting in their first ever Westmoreland derby at Frome, while MBU will host Humble Lion at the Montego Bay Sports Complex.
FC Reno and Cavalier are both tied on 19 points with the Westmoreland team trailing on goal-difference.
The three goals scored against Portmore United was the most FC Reno has scored in any game this season, and came on the back of a 5-0 thrashing they took from defending champions Arnett Gardens a week earlier.
On paper, the game looks set for a draw with both teams close to each other on the points table. However, playing at home could give FC Reno the slight edge over Cavaliers.
On Sunday, Sandals SC scored their first ever win at this level after nine games. Obrien Bent scored the winning goal in time added on at the end of the second half.
Meanwhile, MBU clipped Waterhouse with Dino Williams scoring his first goal of the season, in his first start.
