LUCEA, Hanover – Ten-time champions Rusea’s High School’s only hopes for silverware in this season’s ISSA/FLOW schoolboy football competitions is the daCosta Cup. The Lucea, Hanover boys were knocked out of the FLOW Super Cup on Saturday, beaten 1-4 by Kingston College in the second game of a double-header at the Montego Bay Sports Complex.

A week after being knocked out of the Ben Francis KO at the semi-final stage by Dinthill Technical, Rusea’s High were overrun by Kingston College in the FLOW Cup quarter-final, prompting a walkout of fans before the final whistle.

Next week Rusea’s High will face St Elizabeth Technical in one semi-final of the daCosta Cup for a place in the December 2 final, while Clarendon College and Dinthill Technical will meet in the other semi-final.

Both Clarendon College and Dinthill Technical were beaten in their first-round FLOW Cup KO games by Calabar High and Jamaica College respectively.

Rusea’s High won Zone B in the daCosta Cup first round before rallying in the second round against Brown’s Town High to avoid an upset, then topped their quarter-final group with nine points with wins over Cornwall College, Lennon High and St Mary Technical, to book their place in the semi-finals and a spot in the FLOW Super Cup.

In the daCosta Cup semi-final, Rusea’s High will meet a STETHS team coming off a FLOW Cup semi-final as they will play Calabar at Sabina Park on Saturday.

Leonardo Fogarthy — who scored Rusea’s High’s only goal on Saturday — Daniel Reid and Nazime Matalie will lead the Rusea’s High attack as they seek to return to the daCosta Cup final for the first time since they won their 10th title in 2011.
