Sasanya makes Billboard cut
SASANYA is on a musical high after her single Zum Zum moved up to number 46 on the Billboard Dance Charts this week. The song entered the charts last week at number 51.
“This is so amazing! The song was remixed on a different beat by my record label Cottage 9 Records and re-released, and I am so happy that the song is doing so well overseas. I am simply overjoyed, my first Billboard hit…wow!,” said Sasanya.
Released on iTunes in July, Zum Zum is still getting a favourable response. The song also features upcoming artiste South Black.
In the meantime, she is gearing up to shoot a video for her sophomore single, Girlie Girlie, a dancehall-flavoured remake of Sophia George’s hit. It was released by Cottage 9 Records recently.
“The Girlie Girlie song ah get good airplay and I am working on the choreography for the video which will be shot at the end of this month. It have a little thing about it because it’s a remake of Sophia George’s huge hit, so people are familiar with it and it is getting radio support,” she said.
Sasanya recently completed a successful stint on The Release Innovation Challenge community college tour.
“The tour was great. The feedback from the college students shows that Zum Zum is known in the streets. the college kids knew the song. I didn’t know that the college kids knew the Zum Zum song like that until the tour. I was able to engage directly with the young fans and I gave them my CDs and posters,” said Sasanya.
