Combined Universities and Colleges seize initiative
Combined Universities and Colleges yesterday seized the upper hand over Southern Seals in the Jamaica Cricket Association’s two-day Super League match at Kensington Park.
Southern Seals won the toss and sent Combined Universities to take first strike.
It seemed to pay off when the university team was restricted to 114, with Michael Frew top-scoring on 44.
Damion Ebanks took 2-14 for the Seals.
In reply, the Seals were bundled over for 56 as Ojay Shields took 5-25.
Batting a second time, Combined Universities were 15 without loss at close of play, giving them a lead of 73 runs in the low-scoring affair.
Leroy Lugg is on 14 not out, while his opener partner Ramone Francis is yet to get off the mark.

In another low-scoring match, Eastern Tigers took a slim, first-innings advantage heading into today’s second and final day at Melbourne Oval.
Scores: Tigers 157 (39.4 ovs); Panthers 136 (40.2 ovs)
Aaron Johnson struck 78 for the Tigers against Panthers pacer Nicholson Gordon (4-67) and off-spinner Damani Sewell (3-15).
In response, the Panthers could only muster 136 as Javelle Glenn (48) and Marlon Johnson (31) led the way.
Tigers off-spinner Yannick Elliott took 4-30, while left-arm spinner Patrick Harty claimed 3-38.
Central Titans were in command in their clash with hosts Western Warriors at Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium.
