KINGSTON, Jamaica — A year after it became the largest cruise ship to ever be welcomed at the Port of Kingston, the ‘MS Monarch’ is set to return to the capital tomorrow.

The cruise ship, which has a capacity of just over 2,700 passengers and is operated by Spain’s largest cruise line, Pullmantur Cruises, will pull into Berth 2 at the Kingston Wharves in the morning, according to a release from the Ministry of Tourism.

Senior Advisor and Strategist to Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett, Delano Seiveright, was quoted in the release as saying: “The ship originally scheduled to dock in Montego Bay has been rerouted to Kingston due to unfavourable sea conditions. It arrives at 6:30am and departs at 3:30pm. The Port Authority of Jamaica, the Ministry of Tourism through the Jamaica Tourist Board and Jamaica Vacations (JAMVAC) and a range of shipping and tourism players are now working feverishly to accommodate the ship and its passengers, many of whom will be shuttled to areas of interest around Kingston, Ocho Rios and their environs. Any opportunity to get a cruise ship in Kingston is taken and won’t be taken for granted.”

The MS Monarch came to Kingston on December 6 last year.
