Uncorked Opens A Second Location

The opening of Uncorked West just over a week ago in Montego Bay has introduced a light, crisp, fresh note to the expanding culinary tapestry of Western Jamaica. Located in the rapidly expanding shopping and commercial district of Fairview, the establishment has already attracted several vino lovers and enthusiasts to its freshly minted doors. Uncorked at its core is a wine and cheese bar but guest demands have moved the original concept to a full restaurant. Special attention has been made to maintain the DNA between its western operations and its Sovereign North location in Kingston and paramount to this are the exclusive wines that are for the most part found on their racks locally.

“Montego Bay has grown incredibly with both local and international companies establishing themselves and we want to see ourselves as a part of the growth. Also, we felt that Montegonians were ready to welcome an Uncorked and the experience that we offer,” explained Anna Kay von Dueszeln, co-principal, Uncorked Group.

“We intend to provide quality selections at good value for money and exceed the expectations of our clientele. We are big on guests’ comfort; in addition to our usual offerings we provide pastas, sauces, wine accessories and grab-and-go items. You can take a bottle off the rack and crackers off the shelf and enjoy them at the shop for the same price as retail,” she added.

von Dueszeln emphasised that they were “excited” to be in Montego Bay and that the team is eager to ultimately create a space where guests can come in and chill.

“Uncorked West is a bit larger, so we are planning to have cooking demonstrations and tastings on a regular basis. We need to crawl before we gallop, so our plan is to also see the direction Montego Bay wants us to go and then act. We’ll make suggestions and try things but ultimately our guests will let us know.”

Smart approach, we reckon!
