32 bullets found in pocket of man seen with gunshot wounds after foiled robbery
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — A man, who was found suffering from a gunshot wound shortly after a foiled robbery in Spanish Town, St Catherine, is currently in hospital under police guard.
According to police reports, 32 9mm cartridges were found inside one of the man’s pants pockets when he arrived at hospital early this morning.
He was reportedly found suffering from gunshot wounds on Essex Drive in the old capital, the same avenue on which a man had earlier fought off his armed attacker.
The police said the first incident happened about 5:15 am today. According to them, the robbery victim was walking along Essex Drive when he was held up at gunpoint by a man who demanded money.
A struggle ensued and an explosion was heard, the lawmen reported, adding that the alleged gunman ran, leaving behind one Beretta pistol with a magazine containing nine 9mm cartridges.
The weapon was handed over to the Spanish Town police.
The lawmen did not say whether or not the injured man, whose identity is being withheld pending further investigations, was the attacker in the first incident.
