Weekly Round-up: Police sick-out hampers operations…Ja’s oldest woman honoured…4-y-o accidentally shoots self
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Rank and file members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force continued their sick-out in protest against the Government’s proposed six per cent wage increase, which hampered operations of police divisions island wide.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness has since indicated that he will discuss the state of the negotiations with the various stakeholders and respond to the Jamaica Police Federation, which had requested his intervention.
In other news, Minister of Local Government and Community Development, Desmond McKenzie, honoured Jamaica’s oldest person, Ida Troupe, at her home in Tivoli Gardens as she celebrated her 117th birthday on Christmas Day.
And, the police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a four-year-old boy who allegedly shot himself dead on Tuesday while at home in Kingston.
