RUBiS expands Ultra Shop concept
Petroleum marketing company RUBiS Energy Jamaica Limited opened two Ultra Shop convenience stores in Manor Park and Old Hope Road in Kingston just before the close of last year.
The two new locations join the Ultra Shop convenience store opened in St Ann’s Bay, St Ann, last August
Each store has a brand-new food service area with offerings such as gourmet hot dogs, sandwiches, patties, pastries, snacks, fruits, coffee, and ice-cream.
“Globally the increase in competition in the petroleum trade has placed significant pressure on fuel margins. Learning from this experience, we introduced the RUBiS Ultra Shop to provide a robust non-fuel revenue stream which adds value to our Rubis network,” a company release quotes RUBiS Energy Jamaica CEO Alain Carreau.
“Our Ultra Shop incorporates best practices and standards from more mature international markets. We have strategically taken these steps to make our business more resilient, not just for today, but for the long-term future,” he added.
According to Carreau, the introduction of the Ultra Shop to Jamaica’s consumer market has enhanced the retail experience at RUBiS service stations, bringing the network closer to more mature markets such as the USA and Europe. Dealers are supported with proven processes such as category management, merchandising, and vendor management.
“The Ultra Shop at our Manor Park location offers services that are aligned with the needs of our consumers, catering to consumers’ on-the-go lifestyles. The Ultra Shop is convenient, not just to passing motorists, but also to the dynamic surrounding communities,” added Carreau,
“We have established strategic partnerships with leaders in the fast-moving consumer goods industry; including Wisynco Group, GraceKennedy, Nestle, Automotive Arts, Sagicor Group and others to provide a new platform to deliver their products across the length and breadth of Jamaica,” said Carreau.
Seven RUBiS facilities have been upgraded over a two-year period with the contribution of a local team of architects, engineers, contractors, and workforce.
