ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — A stevedore has been sentenced to pay $500,000 or 12 month’s imprisonment and $1 million or 12 months’ imprisonment, respectively, for dealing in cocaine and trafficking cocaine.
Paul Raphael, 49, who is from Portmore in St Catherine, was sentenced today when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.
According to police reports, an operational team attached to the Narcotics Division arrested Raphael in September last year on Bay Farm Road in Kingston, during a stop-and-search operation.
His Honda CRV motor car was reportedly searched and cocaine weighing more than 95 kilograms allegedly found.
He pleaded guilty on his first appearance in court on September 26 last year.
