Flash flood watch extended for all parishes
KINGSTON, Jamaica —The Meteorological Service has discontinued the flash flood warning for low-lying and flood-prone areas of Trelawny, St Ann, St Mary and Portland and has issued a flash flood watch for all parishes until 5:00 am tomorrow.
The Met Service said a trough system across Jamaica and the western Caribbean continues to produce unstable weather conditions across the island.
Satellite imagery and radar reports indicate that periods of light to moderate showers have been affecting sections of most parishes throughout the day.
The forecast is for mostly cloudy conditions with periods of showers and possible thunderstorms to continue affecting sections of the island tonight and tomorrow. Flash flooding therefore remains a possibility over low-lying and flood-prone areas.
A flash flood watch means that flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed by listening to further releases from the Meteorological Service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a Warning is issued.
The Meteorological Service said it will continue to monitor the situation.
