Judgement day!
Dear Editor,
Our hearts go out to all the people who have had their relatives snatched away by those simple-minded perpetrators of carnage who reside amongst us. Because of them, many law-abiding citizens are experiencing even more desperation than they would have in the face of a tsunami. But every criminal will have his/her ‘judgement day’, because the blood of the innocent never stops running, and it carries a memory.
Judgement! Judgement!
It deh yah now.
Some people a slaughter other people like cow
Fi dem, it no matta if yu a 90 or two
Man wi jus get up an murder you!
Judgement! Judgement!
Dah day deh come
No flood dis time, is fire from gun!
Di contrite of heart jus a bite dem tongue.
Thomas Hobbes, di philosopher, should be around.
“Were it not for a political community…” Hobbes suggests
Wi woulda ina … “continual fear and danger of violent death…”
Judgement! Judgement!
Mek mi ketch mi breath
Because, wat a gwaan now, dat bleeding wi heart
Pointing to di ‘non-society’
Weh… “the life of man (is) solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short”.
Judgement! Have mercy!
Is who a run tings?
Is civilise beings, or mindless pigs?
Will everyone jus’ siddung an’ wring dem han’
Even as dis madness ‘de-people’ wi lan?
Judgement! Woi! Wi under attack!
Wi people weh go weh can never come back.
If dem tek di chance, dem mus mek will
An bless-up dem family, cause a yah so blood spill!
Is judgement now at the hands of man.
Tough, callous fiends are playing God!
But, why dem run all di time dem kill?
None can outrun the blood he spills!
We must stick together to save Jamaica.
